20 feet Guan Yin Statue

  • In 2006, the Goddess of Mercy ‘Guan Yin Bodhisattva’ suggested to the temple’s main god: ‘Pak Kek Hean Tian Seong Tay’ to build a 20 feet majestic and solemn statue at the temple for the devotees to worship. Praying for all good faith, peace and national prosperity. All merits will be inherited and extended to 3 generations, beneficial to the children and grandchildren.
  • On 15th April 2007 (28th day of 2nd month of the lunar calendar) ‘Pak Kek Hean Tian Seong Tay’ come to perform ‘Xia Tor’ ceremony. The ground-breaking ceremony was held and conducted by all committee members and donors in the afternoon.
  • On 1st August 2007 (19th day of 6th month of the lunar calendar), ‘Cheh Gong Su Zun’ came to perform the staking ceremony indicate the begins of the project.
  • On 28th October 2007 (18th day of 9th month of the lunar calendar) ‘Pak Kek Hean Tian Seong Tay’ came to perform the consecration ceremony; Thailand ‘Long Por Oo Master’ perform chanting sutra ceremony. Flower procession was held from ‘Penang Kong Hock Keong Kwan Yim Teng’ (a temple over 200 years old) in the evening, to cordially invite the Guan Yin ‘holy flame’ back to the temple.
  • A magnificent dinner was held on 10th December 2007, at ‘Penang Che Hoon Khor Moral Uplifting Society’ air-conditioned auditorium to celebrate the establishment of Guan Yin Statue fundraising foundation.
  • With the strong support from the community for donations, the Guan Yin Statue costing approximately RM 201,100 was successfully completed on 26th March 2008 (19th day of 2nd month of the lunar calendar).
  • Penang State Chief Minister, Mr Lim Guan Eng was invited to officiate the monument opening ceremony on 17th October 2008 (19th day of 9th month of the lunar calendar).

Rebuilding Temple

     

  • As time flies under the wear and tear condition, the temple had been out of repair for a long time. In 2011, ‘Pak Kek Hean Tian Seong Tay’ told to rebuild the temple. All donations of RM5,000 and above, or donation for the building structure, the donor’s name will be engraved on the monument for eternal memorial. All donations of RM300 and above, the donor’s name will be engraved on the bronze plate for eternal memorial. All merits will be inherited and extended to 3 generations, beneficial to the children and grandchildren.
  • On 3rd Novomber 2011 (8th day of 10th month of the lunar calendar), ‘Pak Kek Hean Tian Seong Tay’ came to perform the ground-breaking ceremony.
  • In June 2012, ‘Pak Kek Hean Tian Seong Tay’ came to perform the staking ceremony indicate the begins of the project.
  • On 7th July 2012, ‘Pak Kek Hean Tian Seong Tay’ appointed his devotee, Mr Lim Soon Heng as the chairman of the Rebuilding Committee and responsible for the rebuilding construction work. The temple’s Rebuilding Committee Group was officially form on 18th July 2012.
  • On 26th July 2012 (8th day of 6th month of the lunar calendar), ‘Pak Kek Hean Tian Seong Tay’ came to host the ‘five battalions’ to ensure that temple rebuilding project to be completed successfully.
  • On 16th December 2012, a charity food fair was held to raise funds for the rebuilding of the temple.
  • On 16th January 2013 (5th day of 12 month of the lunar calendar), ‘Cheh Gong Su Zun’ came to perform treasure placement ceremony (including of jewelries, ‘four treasures of the study’, coins from 9 different countries), at the temple’s inner chamber.
  • With the strong support from the community for the donations, and the committee members, the temple was successfully rebuilded within 9 months period. The project cost approximately RM546,428.
  • On 10th April 2013, (1st day of 3rd month of lunar calendar), Pak Kek Hean Tian Seong Tay came to perform the consecration ceremony, indicate the official opening of the new temple.
